GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Madison (Fla.) County cornerback Shedrick Williams didn't think he'd be impressed with what he was going to see during Florida's annual junior day.
He couldn't have been more wrong. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Williams came away from Saturday's visit in awe.
"I was thinking it wasn't going to be that good, that it was going to be like every other college, but it's totally different," Williams said. "The atmosphere, the sights and everything.
"I liked the way they came to me as a student. They didn't come to me as an outsider. They came to me like I was in their family."
The coaching staff came to him with something else, too: a scholarship offer.
Williams said he wants to take some unofficial visits to a couple other state schools, but he said Florida is now atop his list.
"I might be going to visit Florida state, USF," he said. "But I'm coming back here in the spring."
