GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Defensive end Devin Washington (Orlando, Fla./East River) has seen his stock rise in recent weeks.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound defensive end can now claim an offer list that includes Ole Miss, FIU, Cincinnati, Illinois and UCF. But there's one that he has been waiting on.
Florida has shown interest in but has yet to extend an offer. Washington believes it could be coming soon.
"Actually I talked to coach T-Rob [Travaris Robinson] Monday night, and he said they are really close to offering me," Washington said. "He wants me to meet with coach [Will] Muschamp first."
Washington said he believes that offer could come when he attends Florida's junior day this Saturday.
"I hope so," he said. "Its a big possibility."
Though Washington admittedly grew up a Florida fan, he is not planning to commit right away if Florida offers.
"The Gators were actually my childhood team," Washington said. "My mother went there and my family member Major Wright played there. But, no, I won't commit on the spot. I'm still taking my time with the process."
Washington's half-brother Nick Washington, a five-star safety prospect, will also be visiting Florida for junior day on Saturday.
