GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Gators are hoping to add junior college offensive guard Fehoko Fanaika (San Mateo, Calif./College of San Mateo) to round out their 2012 recruiting class.
Fanaika visited Florida this past weekend and said he came away impressed with what Florida had to offer.
"It was cool. I liked it," Fanaika said. "I got to spend some time with Jon Halapio and got a chance to see the team work out and things like that. I was impressed with how tight the offensive line group was."
While on the visit, Fanaika had a chance to sit down and talk with head coach Will Muschamp and offensive coordinator Brent Pease.
"They were asking me about when I would be able to make it down to Florida if I went there," he said. "I told them not until the summer because of academic reasons. I told them I wanted to redshirt where ever I go."
Fanaika, after a redshirt year, would still be a junior at whichever school he chooses.
Until recently Fanaika's biggest offer was from Kansas, but he has seen his stock rise drastically since his Florida offer came in.
"Georgia, Nebraska and Arkansas all offered me over the last few days," Fanaika said. "I don't have a leader or anything like that, but I will sit down and talk with my parents and probably decide what I'm going to do by next week."
