GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Gators grabbed their second verbal commitment for the recruiting class of 2013 on Saturday when ESPNU 150 watch list defensive tackle Caleb Brantley (Crescent City, Fla./Crescent City HS) committed to Florida.
The 6-foot-3, 295-pound athlete was one of several 2013 prospects in Gainesville Saturday.
Brantley said Florida just felt like home.
"The visit was crazy man," Brantley said "I felt at home. I love UF with a passion. That's where I want to spend my college years."
Brantley has visited Florida several times, but this time he brought his grandparents and a friend. Now he says he wants to be a part of another family.
"It just felt like a family, and I want to be a part of a big family like that," Brantley said. "I have a great chance to play early there, and I have a great relationship with the coaches. Coach [Dan] Quinn and [Bryant] Young were both very happy when I told them I committed. They were real excited."
Brantley, who already holds offers from Florida State and USF, received his Florida offer last Friday.
Brantley had a chance to meet with Florida head coach Will Muschamp early on Saturday before Muschamp headed to Atlanta for a speaking engagement.
"He told me he wants me to be a Gator," Brantley said, "and play as a true freshman."
Brantley called to inform Muschamp of his decision on Saturday night.
Brantley joins running back Adam Lane (Winter Haven, Fla./Winter Haven) as Florida's other 2013 verbal commitments.
