GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida's quarterback situation for the 2012 recruiting class still remains uncertain as the Gators await a decision from four-star prospect Skyler Mornhinweg.
The Florida coaches gave Mornhinweg a deadline of Thursday morning to make a decision, but as of Thursday afternoon a decision had not been made.
Not only are the Florida coaches waiting, so is Deltona (Fla.) quarterback Paxton Lynch. Lynch was planning to visit Florida this weekend, unless Morninweg committed to the Gators. Lynch has decided to go ahead and visit Memphis this weekend.
"Coach [Brent] Pease called me," Lynch said. "He told me to just hang tight. Mornhinweg wasn't ready to make a decision, so they decided to wait and see what he does. I'm just going to go ahead and visit Memphis tomorrow."
Mornhinweg will decide between Florida, Penn State, where he is committed, and Virginia Tech. He was scheduled to visit Virginia Tech this weekend, but it is unclear whether he will still take that visit.
