On Wednesday's SEC coaches teleconference, Florida coach Will Muschamp announced that left tackle D.J Humphries will miss two-to-four-weeks after spraining the MCL in his left knee during Monday's practice.
Humphries left the Gators' opener against Toledo with the same injury and had started six games this season before getting benched for left guard Max Garcia in the Missouri game on Oct. 19.
While Humphries hasn't been spectacular this season and struggled mightily in the loss to LSU, losing him is another blow to a team already coping with a handful of injuries, including eight season-ending ones. The offensive line has stayed healthier than most units, but it has also played pretty poorly during the Gators' two-game losing steak.
During that span, Florida has averaged just 3.1 yards per play and totaled just 391 yards of offense. Quarterback Tyler Murphy has been sacked 10 times and the Gators' offense has mustered just 16 points in the past two games.
Protection issues have been a major part of Florida's offensive woes, and losing anyone right now creates an issue. You always need depth up front, and Florida's just took a hit.
