GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Gators are bringing in a handful of top prospects this weekend and some commits to help recruit them. The 2012 recruiting cycle is coming down to the wire, as there are less than two weeks left until National Signing Day.

There will be a few prospects visiting next weekend, but this weekend will be the Gators' biggest recruiting push before signing day.

Stefon Diggs (Olney, Md./Our Lady of God Counsel) and Tracy Howard (Miramar, Fla./Miramar) headline the list of official visitors. Diggs enjoyed his trip to Auburn last week, but now the talented athlete turns his attention to Gainesville. Diggs will be joined by his mother, his mother’s boyfriend and possibly one of his brothers. Howard, the No. 1-ranked corner in the country according to ESPNU, will be making a trip to LSU next weekend, so expect Florida to pull out all the stops for this shut-down corner.

Defensive end Alex McCalister (Clemmons, N.C./West Forsyth) was scheduled to visit Florida last weekend, but because of an illness in the family, he was not able to make it. McCalister, instead, will visit this weekend and make his college decision between Florida, Georgia Tech and North Carolina on Monday.

Bryan Cox Jr. (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas), son of former NFL linebacker Bryan Cox, will also be making the trip to Florida. The three-star linebacker officially picked up an offer from the Gators on Thursday.

Committed prospects Dante Fowler (St. Petersburg, Fla./Lakewood) and Avery Johnson (Pompano Beach, Fla./Ely) will also be in for their official visits. Fowler has long flirted with flirted with Florida, yet he says he remains firm in his commitment to Florida State. Johnson, like Fowler, says he is 100-percent committed to LSU, but will still visit Gainesville this weekend.

Some of Florida's committed prospects -- Brian Poole (Bradenton, Fla./Southeast), Colin Thompson (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood), Jafar Mann (Stone Mountain, Ga./Stephenson) and Matt Jones (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) -- will also be visiting this weekend to do a little recruiting of their own.

In addition to the 2012 prospects, the Gators will bring in a few top 2013 prospects as well. Running back Adam Lane (Winter Haven, Fla./Winter Haven), wide receiver Alvin Bailey (Seffner, Fla./Armwod) and running back Ryan Green (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Pete Catholic) will take unofficial visits.

Florida prospects visiting other places

Florida offensive line target Avery Young (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens) will take his official visit to Miami this weekend. Young will make his college decision on ESPN on Feb. 1 between Florida, Georgia, Auburn and Miami.

Top outside linebacker Josh Harvey-Clemons (Valdosta, Ga./Lowndes) will officially visit FSU this weekend. He will make his decision on Feb. 1 between Florida and Georgia.

Defensive end Leonard Williams (Daytona Beach, Fla./Mainland) will officially visit Southern Cal this weekend. Williams is expected to announce on signing day between Florida, FSU and Auburn.

Defensive end/defensive tackle Darius Hamilton (Ramsey, N.J./Don Bosco) will visit in-state school Rutgers this weekend. Hamilton will make his decision on Jan. 31 between Florida and Rutgers.
