What we learned: Week 6

Here's what we learned from Saturday's game.

Arkansas may not win again until November: The Razorbacks are on a three-game losing streak and it keeps getting worse -- a 28-24 loss to Rutgers, followed by a 45-33 loss to Texas A&M and Saturday’s 30-10 defeat at Florida. In the loss, starting CB Will Hines broke a bone in his right arm and starting C Travis Swanson re-injured a sprained knee. It doesn’t get any easier. Next up is South Carolina at home and then a visit to No. 1 Alabama. The Razorbacks get a much-needed off week on Oct. 26 before hosting Auburn, which could be the first time they will be favored since beating Southern Miss on Sept. 14.

Florida is a better team without its starting QB: Well, Florida’s old starting quarterback, Jeff Driskel, that is. Florida’s offense is more efficient and making bigger plays with Tyler Murphy now at quarterback. He’s more athletic than Driskel. And although he is less experienced than Driskel, the Gators seem to play better with him at the helm. He’s only had two starts, but he appears more comfortable. We’ll see how composed he’ll be when the Gators visit LSU Saturday.

Brandon Allen can’t do it by himself: Arkansas’ quarterback had a jammed finger in the second half and had to wear a glove on his right (throwing) hand. But that couldn’t have been as painful as Allen’s numbers against Florida: 17-of-41 passing for 164 yards, one interception, and he was sacked twice. Arkansas was impressive running the football in the first quarter -- 81 yards, nearly 30 yards more than Florida was allowing per game -- but when the Hogs fell behind, their running game disappeared. In the second half, Arkansas ran the ball only nine times for 29 yards.
