Cummings will add depth, play early

November, 18, 2012
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- with the addition of junior college defensive tackle Darious Cummings (Titusville, Fla./East Mississippi Community College), the Gators filled what could potentially be a big hole on the defensive line.

Senior defensive tackle Omar Hunter will be graduating and junior Sharrif Floyd is having a solid year and could enter the NFL draft in April. The Gators will be left with only four scholarship defensive tackles in Leon orr, Dominique Easley, Damien Jacobs and Caleb Brantley (Crescent City, Fla./Crescent City). Brantley, a four-star tackle, is verbally committed to play for Florida next year.

One of Florida's freshmen defensive ends, Quinteze Williams, Dante Fowler Jr. or Jonathan Bullard could potentially move inside to tackle. Cummings, who will be a redshirt junior next season, will provide immediate depth and with his experience at FSU and his production at EMCC, he should see playing time early and often for the Gators.
