GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- With their second top 10 matchup in three weeks, the Florida Gators will once again be bringing in several top prospects for Saturday's game against the No. 7-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks. The list is heavy on prospects who are verbally committed to other schools, but there will be at least two big uncommitted prospects in attendance.
Four-star offensive guard David Dawson (No. 87 in ESPN 300; Detroit/Cass Tech) decommitted from Michigan just last week, and the Gators appear to be in the driver's seat for his services. Dawson, who will be taking his official visit to UF, said he is looking forward to spending time with other Florida commits on his visit to Gainesville.
"I'm just looking forward to seeing the campus, getting to chill with some of the other Florida commits again," Dawson said. "I'm also looking forward to seeing the facilities and all the Nike gear they have."
Dawson says he is also considering Alabama and LSU.
Joining Dawson for his official visit will be four-star safety Marcell Harris (No. 66 in ESPN 150; Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips). This will be Harris' fourth official visit -- the others include Florida State, Texas and Oklahoma. Harris' father, Mike Harris, played for South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier when he was at Florida in the mid-90s.
In addition to Dawson and Harris, No. 3 overall player and No. 1 offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil (Lake City, Fla./Columbia) will visit, as will four-star defensive end DeMarcus Walker (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood -- Alabama commit), four-star wide receiver DeMarcus Robinson (Fort Valley, Ga./Peach Co. -- committed to Clemson), four-star offensive guard Ira Denson (Madison, Fla./Madison Co. -- committed to FSU) and four-star inside linebacker Trey Johnson (Lawrenceville, Ga./Central Gwinnett -- committed to Auburn). Four-star cornerback Shaq Wiggins (Tyrone,Ga./Sandy Creek -- Georgia commit) was scheduled to make an official visit but will not be in attendance, pushing back his visit to a later date.
Some of the Florida commits expected in attendance include four-star defensive tackle Caleb Brantley (Crescent City, Fla./Crescent City), four-star running back Kelvin Taylor (Belle Glade, Fla./Glades Day), five-star cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III (Tampa, Fla./Wharton) and four-star center Cam Dillard (Canton, Mich./Canton).
Denson and Dillard will be on official visits to Florida.
Several top 2014 prospects are also expected in attendance. ESPN Watch List quarterback Will Grier (Davidson, N.C./Davidson Day) will be making his second trip to the Swamp in three weeks. Watch List defensive end Andrew Williams (McDonough, Ga./Eagles Landing) and Watch List defensive back Duke Dawson (Cross City, Fla./Dixie Co.) are also expected to attend.
