Florida Awards Tracker: Week 6

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Here’s a recap of how Florida’s players on national award watch lists are faring this season:

LB Jon Bostic

  • Watch lists: College Football Performance Award Linebacker Trophy, Butkus Award, Rotary Lombardi.
  • Last week’s stats: five tackles, one sack for minus-9 yards, one forced fumble.
  • Season stats: 33 tackles, three sacks for minus-17 yards, three QB hurries, one forced fumble, two pass break-ups.
  • Comment: UF coach Will Muschamp said Bostic is doing a better job shedding blockers and being in position to make plays this season.
FB Trey Burton

  • Watch list: CFPA Running Back Trophy.
  • Last week’s stats: two carries for 10 yards, one catch for 8 yards.
  • Season stats: 10 carries for 109 yards and two TDs, seven catches for 74 yards.
  • Comment: Burton also uncharacteristically dropped two passes against Vandy. He also had a two-point conversion run.
Kyle Christy

  • Watch list: CFPA Punter Trophy
  • Last week’s stats: averaged 46.2 yards on five punts.
  • Season stats: averaging 46.4 yards on 29 punts, 12 inside the 20, 11 of at least 50 yards.
  • Comment: Christy is sixth in the nation in punting.
WR/KR Andre Debose

  • Watch lists: CFPA All-Purpose Trophy, CFPA Kickoff Returner Trophy, CFPA Wide Receiver Trophy, Biletnikoff.
  • Last week’s stats: one punt return for 6 yards, two kickoff returns for 67 yards.
  • Season stats: averaging 23.9 yards on 11 kickoff returns, averaging 9.1 on eight punt returns, two carries for 1 yard, one catch for 5 yards.
  • Comment: Debose finally made a big play on special teams, returning a kickoff 60 yards in the fourth quarter to set up a field goal.
DE Dominique Easley

  • Watch list: Ted Hendricks Award.
  • Last week’s stats: none.
  • Season stats: eight tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack for minus-5 yards, two QB hurries.
  • Comment: Sat out the game with a knee injury. He’s expected to play against South Carolina.
S Matt Elam

  • Watch lists: CFPA Defensive Back Trophy, Jim Thorpe Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy.
  • Last week’s stats: seven tackles.
  • Season stats: 33 tackles, one sack for minus-10 yards, one interception, two pass break-ups, one forced fumble.
  • Comment: Elam had another solid game and continues to make plays in both the passing and running game.
DT Sharrif Floyd

  • Watch lists: Bednarik Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Outland Trophy, Rotary Lombardi Award, Walter Camp Award.
  • Last week’s stats: four tackles, one QB hurry.
  • Season stats: 22 tackles, three QB hurries.
  • Comment: He wasn’t very noticeable against Vandy, and the Gators’ defensive front got pushed around a bit.
C Jonotthan Harrison

  • Watch list: Rimington Award.
  • Last week’s stats: Left the game in the first quarter after suffering an injury to his right arm.
  • Season stats: Gators are averaging 233.3 yards per game rushing.
  • Comment: He is expected to return to the starting lineup against South Carolina.
LB Jelani Jenkins

  • Watch lists: Butkus Award, Rotary Lombardi Award.
  • Last week’s stats: none.
  • Season stats: five tackles, one tackle for loss
  • Comment: Jenkins sat out the game with a sprained hamstring but is expected to play against South Carolina.
LB Lerentee McCray

  • Watch list: Butkus Award.
  • Last week’s stats: four tackles.
  • Season stats: 18 tackles, two sacks for minus-10 yards, one interception, two QB hurries, one forced fumble.
  • Comment: Played solidly, but didn’t make much of an impact.
TE Jordan Reed

  • Watch lists: John Mackey Award, CFPA Tight End Trophy.
  • Last week’s stats: two catches for 14 yards.
  • Season stats: 21 catches for 237 yards and one TD.
  • Comment: Reed is UF’s leading receiver despite being banged up this season.
K Caleb Sturgis

  • Watch lists: CFPA Placekicker Trophy, CFPA Specialist Trophy, Groza Award.
  • Last week’s stats: 3-for-3 on field goals.
  • Season stats: 11-for-13 on field goals, two of those are from 51 yards.
  • Comment: Sturgis has made three FGs in a row after missing a 39-yarder against Kentucky.
