ATLANTA -- In what is shaping up as their worst season since 1990, the Atlanta Braves at least have a little something to be excited about in the final month of the season.
Olivera was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers just before the deadline for non-waiver trades in a blockbuster deal that also included the Marlins. The Braves paid a heavy price for the 30-year-old, giving up pitchers Alex Wood, Jim Johnson, and Luis Avilan, along with top prospect Jose Peraza.
Olivera has been slowed this season by a hamstring injury. But he figures to get plenty of playing time with the Braves.
