ESPN 300 OLB sees fit in Athens

June, 28, 2013
ATHENS, Ga. -- Christian Miller (Columbia, S.C./Spring Valley), the nation’s No. 2 outside linebacker, was in Athens on Wednesday, talking with Mark Richt and Kirk Olivadotti. Miller liked what he heard. In fact, he left campus thinking he could easily see himself suiting up for the Bulldogs.

RN Top 10: Atlanta NFTC

April, 15, 2013
The RN Top 10 will appear throughout the camp and combine season and rank prospects based strictly on their on-field performance at that particular event. It does not reflect what their overall prospect ranking will be when the 2014 rankings are unveiled this spring.

BUFORD, Ga. – With 276 players taking part in the Atlanta Nike Football Training Camp on Saturday, there were dozens of prospects in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 classes who had already been offered by FBS programs. Six of the participants were awarded invitations to the The Opening later the summer.

The offensive linemen at the Atlanta NFTC were not an overly impressive group, but Prescod stood out, not just because of his hairstyle. He locked up and drove back multiple defensive tackles and showed an impressive base.

Prescod is approaching 10 offers, and has scholarship opportunities with Missouri, Ole Miss and Virginia. At the moment, Prescod says Missouri is standing out. Watch out for Auburn if they offer, as they seem to be the school he feels most at home with right now.

Craig Haubert’s take: “Prescod did a nice job in the offensive line group that was not among the strongest at the NFTC this year. He showed good bend and strong punch and he has outstanding size, both in height and bulk.”

Lessons Learned: Atlanta NFTC

April, 13, 2013
BUFORD, Ga. -- The Southeast, in particular Georgia, prides itself on its football talent. When the 2013 Nike Football Training Camp tour made a stop outside of Atlanta on Saturday, the recruits who participated did not disappoint. After a competitive Saturday, dominated for the most part by the defensive line, six players earned invitations to The Opening.

Recruiting Nation’s Greg Ostendorf attended the camp. Here’s what he learned:

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The last month has been a productive one for the University of Alabama in terms of recruiting.

Sure, the Crimson Tide still have just three commitments for 2014 -- far less than they’ve had at this time in years past -- but since the beginning of spring practice, they have hosted some of the nation’s top recruits. If the talent on campus this spring is any indication, Nick Saban is well on his way to another No. 1 recruiting class.

With just a week until A-Day, TideNation breaks down the recent visitors, position-by-position, beginning with the offense Thursday.

Each week this spring, RecruitingNation will take a closer look at some of the nation’s top Class of 2014 prospects from the ESPN Watch List. This week we kick things off with Charlotte (N.C.) Christian tight end Jeb Blazevich.

Few people -- well, other than astute recruiters -- knew who Jeb Blazevich was last summer.

Then the offers started pouring in.

Blazevich was a self-described average receiver before he started eating -- a lot. The tight end from Charlotte (N.C.) Christian went from peanut butter sandwiches to hamburgers then chicken strips to bulk up to 240 pounds. And the hamburgers were for breakfast, while the chicken strips were an in-class snack.

It clearly worked, as Blazevich is now considered one of the top tight end prospects in the nation and is being recruited by some of the country’s top programs. Blazevich recently listed Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame and Ole Miss as his finalists.

"It's really crazy," Blazevich said of his recruitment. "When you think about it, I'm just a normal kid. I go to church on Sundays. I go to school during the week. I do my work like anybody else. It's just crazy to have these accolades.

"It really humbles you to realize that, wow, God gave me this ability. He could have given this to anybody. It's a really humbling experience. I'm very grateful for it but it is a little bit crazy."

Blazevich is likely a better prospect than he was as a rising junior last year when he was receiving all of these scholarship offers. He's lost some of the fat he picked up when he decided to bulk up. Once too small, a bigger Blazevich is now determined to be big and lean.

Alabama: 2014 prospects to watch

February, 7, 2013

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- With signing day 2013 wrapped up, it’s time to turn our attention to the 2014 recruits. Here are five players Alabama will be targeting for next year’s class:

TE Jeb Blazevich (Charlotte, N.C./Christian)
Although Alabama signed ESPN 150 tight end O.J. Howard on Wednesday, the Tide missed on a number of other tight end prospects -- Hunter Henry, Josh McNeil and Greg Taboada. The coaching staff will likely target the position again in 2014, and the top player available is Blazevich, a Watch List tight end. He has offers from all over but recently said he is considering only Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Ole Miss. He was in Miami to watch the Tide take home their second national championship in as many years.

Despite being a junior, Jeb Blazevich is a popular prospect.

The 2014 Watch List tight end from Charlotte (N.C.) Christian recently hosted several coaches from colleges he is considering. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and tight ends coach Danny Pearman were at the school last week.

Ohio State running backs coach Stan Drayton and Ole Miss tight ends coach Maurice Harris were also recently at the school. Nebraska even tried to make a run at Blazevich, to no avail.

Watch List TE Blazevich talks top six

December, 20, 2012
ESPN Watch List tight end Jeb Blazevich (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Christian) named his top six schools on Twitter last week. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound junior is one of the most coveted targets in the Class of 2014 and that news left 17 programs with lumps of coal in their recruiting stockings.

“It is Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Alabama and Ole Miss,” Blazevich said.

The Rebels would not have made the cut had Blazevich decided to trim the list before the football season.

Five for '14: Wide receivers

December, 6, 2012
Speedy NoilMax Olson/ESPN.comSpeedy Noil of New Orleans would be a fit as a slot receiver in the 2014 class.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- It was evident that the University of Alabama made an effort to get the ball to its wide receivers this season. Whether it was because of new offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier or just a surplus of playmakers at the position, the Crimson Tide aired it out more than they had in past years.

With that in mind, the wide receiver position has become more important to the Tide in recruiting.

Jeb Blazevich has become a prime target for Alabama.

TE Jeb Blazevich to cut down schools

December, 5, 2012
Junior or not, Jeb Blazevich is ready to pare down the schools he's considering.

The 2014 tight end prospect from Charlotte (N.C.) Christian stated via text message on Wednesday that he plans to cut his many scholarships down to six or seven schools. The ESPN Watch List prospect said he plans to announce the list sometime next week.

When asked if there are any schools that will definitely be on the list, Blazevich stated, "I'm going to wait to tell everyone that list after I get a chance to tell all the schools so they don't find out another way."

Blazevich has shown strong interest in several schools, namely Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Clemson, Ohio State and Tennessee. He visited all of those schools this year.

Jeb Blazevich talks Alabama visit

October, 29, 2012
The tens of thousands in the stands were nice. One meeting, however, stood out.

Following his visit to Tuscaloosa, Ala., this weekend, Jeb Blazevich most remembers one conversation -- with head coach Nick Saban.

"He explained their program and said he thought I could be successful in the system and to get him more film," said Blazevich, an ESPN Watch List tight end from Charlotte (N.C.) Christian.
