TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The relationship between Reuben Foster and Bo Scarbrough (Tuscaloosa, Ala./Northridge) has developed into something of a brotherhood. When Foster visits here, the two are inseparable. Scarbrough, a 2014 Alabama commitment, says that he’s the main reason Foster signed with the Crimson Tide three months ago.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- ESPN 150 athlete Bo Scarbrough (Tuscaloosa, Ala./Northridge) committed to Alabama in September, but that hasn’t stopped other schools from recruiting him. Last week, Florida running backs coach Brian White paid him a visit.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- It’s A-Day weekend, which means top recruits from across the nation are about to descend on the University of Alabama for the Crimson Tide’s spring game.

It’s an event that has become almost like game weekend in the fall for both fans and recruits, and it’s no different this year with a large, impressive group of prospects set to be on campus. Will Alabama add to its 2014 class when it’s all said and done?

ESPN 150 targets: Alabama

With the release of the ESPN 150 today, here are some of Alabama's top targets on the list:

1. RB Leonard Fournette (New Orleans/St. Augustine)
6-foot-1, 232 pounds
ESPN 150 Rank: 1

Why they want him: Think Trent Richardson. Fournette might have the best combination of size and speed since Richardson came out in 2009. He’s a perfect fit for Alabama’s pro-style offense and has a chance to be the next great running back for the Crimson Tide. Alabama has a ridiculous number of young backs set to be on campus, but Fournette has the talent to play right away.

Who else wants him: Fournette says he had more than 100 offers as a freshman. The biggest threat to Alabama is clearly the in-state school, LSU, but also keep an eye on Texas. The Longhorns just landed a commitment from Fournette's teammate, Jermaine Roberts.

Odds they get him: 60 percent

videoMONTGOMERY, Ala. -- As Shaun Dion Hamilton (Montgomery, Ala./Carver) picked up scholarship offer after scholarship offer, he continued to wait for one from the University of Alabama. Finally, the Crimson Tide offered the ESPN Watch List linebacker in February, and it completely changed his recruitment.

When Hamilton sat in his high school’s auditorium Wednesday with three hats in front of him, it was an easy decision. After reaching for each hat, he pulled an Alabama hat and gloves out of a bag, signifying his commitment to the Tide.

“It was just the program,” Hamilton said. “It’s a great program. Coach [Nick] Saban, he’s a great coach. They’re known for winning championships. You know they’re going to be in a BCS bowl every year. I just love Alabama.

“Coach [Kirby] Smart and I, we have a great relationship. We’ve been talking on and on. I’ll be ready to play for them and try to help them compete so we can win national championships.”

The other two hats on the table belonged to Auburn and Tennessee. Hamilton, who had over 25 offers, made two late visits to Auburn, but it wasn’t enough to sway the in-state star.

“It was real hard,” he said. “There were a lot of great schools out there who gave me opportunities. Auburn is right down the road. I have a teammate who signed with them, but at the end of the day, my heart was with Alabama and I had to do what’s best for me and my family. It was a business decision.”

Hamilton becomes the Tide’s fourth commitment for 2014, joining running back Bo Scarbrough, and defensive backs Kalvaraz Bessent and Chris Williams in the class. The Carver High School linebacker plans to graduate early and enroll at UA in January.

“Whenever you can be on the weight program for a whole semester in front of everybody else, know the playbook, learn the playbook, it’s worth it,” Hamilton said. “I saw that with my friend Dee Milliner. He went in there in January. He started as a freshman. He was an All-American. Now he’s about to get drafted in the top five.”

Milliner, a former Alabama cornerback, was on hand for Hamilton’s commitment. He flew back from a meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs to attend the event.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The last month has been a productive one for the University of Alabama in terms of recruiting.

Sure, the Crimson Tide still have just three commitments for 2014 -- far less than they’ve had at this time in years past -- but since the beginning of spring practice, they have hosted some of the nation’s top recruits. If the talent on campus this spring is any indication, Nick Saban is well on his way to another No. 1 recruiting class.

With just a week until A-Day, TideNation breaks down the recent visitors, position-by-position, beginning with the offense Thursday.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama landed another commitment on Tuesday when 2014 safety Chris Williams (Kingsland, Ga./Camden County) announced his verbal pledge to the Crimson Tide via Twitter.

Miller Safrit/Under ArmourChris Williams joined high school teammate Kalvaraz Bessent as an Alabama commit.
First, he had to get his mother’s blessing.

“Me and my mom sat down and talked about, making sure I went to the place that I wanted to go,” Williams said. “The atmosphere is nice, the weight room, the practice facilities, the game field, the coaches, everything. It’s just right.”

It wasn’t too difficult to sell his mother, Cassandra Floyd, on Alabama. She grew up in Wetumpka, Ala., and has always pulled for the Tide. Still, she had to make sure that’s where her son really wanted to go and that he wasn’t doing it for her sake.

“I was sitting on the couch, and he came in and said, ‘Mom, I want to commit to Alabama. I said, ‘no you don’t. You just know I like them. That’s why you’re doing it. Don’t do it for me. You have to do it for yourself.’ He was like, ‘Mom, this is what I want to do.’

“It was great for me because I’m an Alabama fan. I’m very proud.”

After he told his mother, Williams reached out to his high school teammate, cornerback Kalvaraz Bessent, who committed to Alabama last week. The two visited Tuscaloosa together last month for the Tide’s junior day.

“Me and him, we’ve got a good relationship,” Bessent said. “We’ve been playing football together since middle school. I’m really excited about it. I think we can do good together, push each other harder and make each other better.”

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Cornerback is a position that Nick Saban tends to be selective with most years, and after signing four potential corners in the 2013 class, Alabama is only expected to take two, possibly three cornerbacks in this cycle.

That’s what makes Kalvaraz Bessent’s commitment on Tuesday surprising.

Alabama: 2014 prospects to watch

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- With signing day 2013 wrapped up, it’s time to turn our attention to the 2014 recruits. Here are five players Alabama will be targeting for next year’s class:

TE Jeb Blazevich (Charlotte, N.C./Christian)
Although Alabama signed ESPN 150 tight end O.J. Howard on Wednesday, the Tide missed on a number of other tight end prospects -- Hunter Henry, Josh McNeil and Greg Taboada. The coaching staff will likely target the position again in 2014, and the top player available is Blazevich, a Watch List tight end. He has offers from all over but recently said he is considering only Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Ole Miss. He was in Miami to watch the Tide take home their second national championship in as many years.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama keeps trending upward for ESPN Watch List linebacker Rashaan Evans, an Auburn legacy. The in-state star visited Tuscaloosa on Saturday for the Crimson Tide’s first junior day and came away impressed.

“It went pretty good,” Evans said. “They gave us a tour of the facilities and the new weight room they’re about to put in. It’s huge. It’s almost double from what they had originally had, so it’s going to be huge. And it’s right across from the indoor facility.”

Evans, who already has an Alabama offer, didn’t get a chance to speak with head coach Nick Saban. Instead, he spent most of his time with UA defensive coordinator Kirby Smart.
