Top target for Bielema: Altee Tenpenny
By Dave Hooker
Bret Bielema will have a huge challenge on his hands to keep Arkansas' top prospect in state.
Sure, there will be excitement surrounding Arkansas' football program, which hired Bielema from Wisconsin this week. That, however, might not be enough for ESPN 150 tailback Altee Tenpenny.
The four-star running back from North (Ark.) Little Rock committed to Alabama in January. He has repeatedly said he's firmly committed to the Crimson Tide but has also entertained other schools. Tenpenny's head coach, Brad Bolding, said his star pupil is in the process of lining up official visits.
"I think he will take all of his official visits since you only get to go through it one time," Bolding said.
Bolding said Tenpenny will take official visits to Alabama, Arkansas and Oklahoma State. The coach said Tennessee and Notre Dame are also possibilities but no decision has been made on the final two visits.
There's reason to think Tenpenny would be a good fit for Bielema's offense. The former Badger head coach relies on big offensive lines and a power running game. That would certainly suit Tenpenny's skills. The nation's No. 77 prospect is 6-foot and 212 pounds. Still, Bama is in solid position.
"It will be very hard to pull him from Alabama," Bolding said. "Altee's like their poster child coming in."
That will be hard for Bielema to overcome. He'll certainly still try.
"I'm not sure the new guys matters much," Bolding said, "but we haven't heard from him."
