Alabama Awards Tracker: Week 3
By Alex Scarborough
Each week at TideNation we'll take a look at how Alabama's players up for postseason awards fared in action. All told, 12 Alabama players were put on watch lists this offseason.
QB AJ McCarron, Jr. (Maxwell, Manning, O'Brien, Camp): McCarron continues to put on a clinic in passing efficiency, going yet another game without throwing an interception and bringing his quarterback rating to an otherworldly 196.6.
RB Eddie Lacy, Jr. (Maxwell, Walker): After two weeks of questions regarding his health, the old Eddie Lacy returned in Fayetteville, Ark., with the burst Alabama fans had become accustomed to, abusing the Razorbacks defense to the tune of three touchdowns.
TE Michael Williams, Sr. (Mackey): Williams got back in the action against Arkansas, catching two passes for 20 yards and no touchdowns.
C Barrett Jones, Sr. (Rimington, Outland, Lombardi, Walter Camp): In a steady rain, the Tide's leader on the offensive line continued to perform solidly at center, holding blocks well and getting the ball to the quarterback without issue.
G Chance Warmack, Sr. (Outland, Lombardi): Warmack didn't win the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week Award for nothing. The senior was the most impressive lineman on the field Saturday.
RT D.J. Fluker, Jr. (Outland, Lombardi): Fluker's inconsistent play against WKU returned in the SEC opener, getting beaten by more athletic defensive ends.
CB Dee Milliner, Jr.: (Nagurski): The early season star in the secondary returned in a big way against Arkansas, keeping Cobi Hamilton under wraps and blowing up what would have been a big trick play from Arkansas in the first half.
LB Nico Johnson, Sr.: (Nagurski, Lombardi): Johnson performed well in pass coverage against a top-tier tight end in Chris Gragg. He finished as the Tide's leading tackler with six. He also had a quarterback hurry and contributed on a tackle for loss.
LB C.J. Mosley, Jr.: (Nagurski, Lombardi): Mosley continues to be a consistent performer on defense, never letting a tackle go by the wayside. He finished second on the team in tackles Saturday with five, including a forced fumble.
S Robert Lester, Sr.: (Thorpe, Nagurski, Bednarik): Lester's stock rose with another solid performance in Saturday's shutout, coming in second on the team with five tackles, including a half a tackle for loss.
DT Jesse Williams, Sr. (Outland, Bednarik, Bronko Nagurski, Lombardi): Williams took a step forward against Arkansas, starting at nose guard after missing the previous game and registering three tackles, including 0.5 tackles for loss.
K Jeremy Shelley, Sr.: (Groza): Shelley continues to sit on the sidelines for Alabama's wins. He's been perfect on extra points but the opportunities for field goals just haven't been there.
