2016 WR Gavin drawing major attention

By Derek Tyson

CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. -- He's only a freshman, but Wakulla wide receiver Keith Gavin has already garnered offers from Florida State, Florida, Clemson, South Carolina and Ole Miss.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound 2016 prospect is just starting the recruiting process but has caught the eye of many college across the southeast.

"It's been crazy," Gavin said. "Just about every week I've been having a different coach come to see me and watch me practice."

Gavin acknowledges that it's still too early to narrow down his choices, but he admits there is a school he grew up rooting for.

"I grew up liking Florida State," Gavin said. "It's just been my dream school. I've always looked up to Deion Sanders and I have a good friend, Nigel Bradham, that just came from Florida State."

Along with the Noles, Gavin said he's already attended two games at Florida.

"I like Florida, too," Gavin said. "I've gone to two games there. It was pretty nice, like the whole atmosphere was really nice."

As a freshman, Gavin totaled 20 receptions for 385 yards and four touchdowns.

There is one school the talented pass-catcher would like to hear more from.

"I would like to hear more from Alabama," Gavin said. "It's a great school and I would love to go to a school like that."

Gavin said he would like to wait a while to make a decision, but the Noles are clearly the team to beat.

"I think I'm going to wait until my senior year, but I think I already know what I want," Gavin laughed. "FSU is just a school I like, my dream school. Most of my family is Florida State fans, and it's a school I want to go to."
