2015 ATH adds SEC offers
By Kipp Adams
ATLANTA – After bursting onto the scene with one of the best performances at the Mark Richt 7-on-7 Camp last year, after which Georgia gave him his first scholarship offer, 2015 athlete Terry Godwin (Hoganville, Ga./Callaway) followed it up by making 25 tackles and four interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns.
Class of 2015 athlete Terry Godwin recently picked up offers from Alabama and Florida.
Two more offers came last month for the talented sophomore -- one from Alabama following a visit from defensive coordinator Kirby Smart to his school. Florida became offer No. 3 a few weeks later, the third SEC school to extend him an early scholarship. Godwin was in Tuscaloosa, Ala., recently to check out the Crimson Tide.
"It is awesome to have a chance to play for Alabama,” Godwin said. "They have a great coaching staff and they are back-to-back national champs. I visited there last weekend and got to see the school and the weight room is huge. Nick Saban is a cool, down-to-earth and very straightforward coach."
While Alabama and Florida like Godwin as a cornerback, Georgia has told him they like him on both sides of the ball, likely due to his dominant performance at its camp last summer. He hopes to return to Athens, Ga., soon and says he has no leaders at the moment.
"I love going over to Georgia," Godwin said. "Mark Richt talks to me about keeping my grades up, staying humble and being a great athlete."
