Alabama also signed Robert Foster, the No. 2-ranked receiver in the Class of 2013.
"We have different types of receivers -- bigger guys, small guys that are fast," UA quarterback AJ McCarron told ESPN's Tom Rinaldi on signing day. "It's going to be a fun offense."
The 6-foot-3 Shinn came to Alabama as a top-15 prospect at his position in 2011. The Vigor High (Ala.) product appeared in all 14 games during the 2012 season.
Saban also announced that redshirt freshman receiver Danny Woodson Jr. has been suspended for violation of team rules. He appeared in six games, catching one pass for 9 yards against Arkansas.
Spring camp could look very different at the wide receiver position with news that Norwood might not be available to practice. He and cornerback John Fulton have turf toe injuries that need to be further evaluating by the medical staff, according to Saban.
Norwood was Alabama's second-leading receiver this past season, catching 29 passes for 464 yards and four touchdowns.
Fulton is a question mark at a position Alabama was already struggling at in terms of depth. Dee Milliner left school early to enter the draft, leaving the Tide with just a few experienced cornerbacks. His injury could open the door for Geno Smith to start as a sophomore. The former four-star recruit played increased snaps down the stretch as a true freshman, starting at nickel back during the postseason.
