The O-zone: Signing day predictions
By Greg Ostendorf
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- ESPN 150 linebacker Reuben Foster kicked off signing day week with a commitment to Alabama on Monday night. However, the real fun begins on Wednesday when the recruits sign and fax their letters of intent to the schools they choose.
Alabama already has 23 commitments for 2013, but the Crimson Tide are expected to finish strong. Who else will they add on signing day?
In good shape
RB Alvin Kamara (Norcross, Ga./Norcross): It’s always been Alabama and Georgia for Kamara. UGA is the hometown school, but he’s more than comfortable with the Tide’s program. Kamara spent nearly a week in Tuscaloosa in August during fall camp. He has visited multiple times, including a surprise trip this past weekend with Foster. He says the potential depth chart at running back are a non-issue, and Alabama plans to utilize him in a variety of ways.

DT Dee Liner (Muscle Shoals, Ala./Muscle Shoals): Since his decommitment from Auburn, Liner has been all Alabama. Even before he reopened his recruitment, Liner was seen wearing Alabama gear and visited multiple Tide games. Georgia made one last push for the ESPN 150 star -- trying to get him to take an official visit this past weekend -- but the trip fell through as the UA coaches advised against it.
Announcement time: 11 a.m. CT
DT A’Shawn Robinson (Fort Worth, Texas/Arlington Heights): A week ago, nobody had Robinson going to Alabama. He was committed to Texas, and most felt he would stick with his long-standing commitment. However, after a visit from UA head coach Nick Saban, Robinson opted to open back up his recruitment with less than a week before signing day. He denied telling the UT coaches that he was going to Alabama, but after eliminating both Texas and USC, it looks fairly certain that he’ll sign with the Tide.

On the fence
DT Montravius Adams (Vienna, Ga./Dooley County): Adams has always been considered a long shot for Alabama. The Tide made up some ground after he took his official visit to UA in January, but in the end, it doesn’t look like he will end up in Tuscaloosa. Adams wants to play in the SEC, and it should come down to either Auburn or Georgia for his signature.

Luring Antonio Conner from his home state could be a tough task for Alabama.
DB Antonio Conner (Batesville, Miss./South Panola): This might be as close as it gets right now. Conner will decide between Alabama and Ole Miss, but it’s at 50-50 a day before signing day. The ESPN 150 safety loves Alabama and wants to play for the Tide, but will he be able to leave the in-state school, especially with the class that Ole Miss could finish with? It takes a certain type of person to be able to do that with all the pressure of staying home. Landon Collins, another top safety, did it a year ago when he left Louisiana to come to Alabama, and Conner has that same type of mentality.
Announcement time: 9:45 a.m. CT
DT Jarran Reed (Goldsboro, N.C./East Mississippi CC): Alabama made a late push for Reed, a junior college defensive lineman. He visited Tuscaloosa the past two weekends, but sources say the Florida coaches feel good about their chances. In the end, it might be a numbers casualty for the Tide. Still, if Alabama misses on Adams and Vanderdoes, they might try one last time to sign Reed.
DT Eddie Vanderdoes (Auburn, Calif./Placer): Nobody knows for sure where Vanderdoes is going right now. According to a source, Vanderdoes said he was down to Alabama and Notre Dame during his official visit to Tuscaloosa this past weekend. However, UCLA is still right there, and if all three schools are even, he will likely pick the Bruins because they’re close to home. None of his choices would be shocking at this point.
Announcement time: 7 p.m. CT
DB Vonn Bell (Rossville, Ga./Ridgeland): In December, Bell was ready to commit to Alabama. Now, the Tide are not even a contender. Whether it was because of the numbers or if he just fell in love with the new coaches at Tennessee, the school he grew up cheering for, it looks like Bell will be a Volunteer.
Announcement time: 9:05 a.m. CT
OT Laremy Tunsil (Lake City, Fla./Columbia): It was always Alabama and Georgia for the five-star offensive tackle, but in the last month, Ole Miss swooped in and has become the front runner. Because of the situation, he’s as big of a pickup for the Rebels as Robert Nkemdiche if all goes according to plan.
Prediction: Ole Miss
