Interest in late-bloomer Jackson increasing
By Gary Laney
Eddie Jackson (Pompano Beach, Fla./Boyd Anderson) is the epitome of a late-bloomer, under-the-radar prospect.
A senior wide receiver/defensive back who had little film to offer because academic issues sidelined him for much of his high school career, Jackson worked to get his grades up, had a solid senior season on the field and now has a growing list of offers.
Including the latest one.
"Yes sir!," he texted when asked if rumors of an Alabama offer were true. "I'm going to [an official visit] on the 18th."
It's going to be part of a busy month for the 6-foot-1 Jackson, who is listed as a wide receiver but might project as a defensive back in the mold of another Pompano Beach native, Patrick Peterson. LSU, where Peterson played his college ball, has offered Jackson and will get a visit from him on Feb. 1. LSU likes Jackson as a cornerback, but the Tigers also have a need on offense at receiver.
Jackson will visit Florida State this weekend and also is scheduled for a visit to Arkansas Jan. 25.
