Recruits react to Bama's BCS title

By Greg Ostendorf

On Monday night, the University of Alabama won its second consecutive national championship and its third in the last four years. The Crimson Tide dominated Notre Dame to the tune of 42-14, and the nation’s top recruits took notice.

Members of Alabama’s current class, remaining 2013 targets, and the nation’s elite prospects in 2014 all chimed in after the Tide’s win last night.

*DE Jonathan Allen

"I knew a lot of people were surprised, but me personally, I was expecting that. I felt the matchups were in our favor, so I knew we had the advantage coming into the game. I didn’t think that they could contend with our offensive line and how physical they were. I was excited, but I wasn’t surprised. I was expecting it."

DB Vonn Bell

"You know there's not too much to say about the game. Coach Nick Saban had his time, prepared and was ready to dominate as you saw in the results."

Bradley Bozeman
Alabama OL commit Bradley Bozeman was one of several Crimson Tide recruits that were excited about Bama's BCS title-game win.

*ATH Derrick Henry

"Alabama dominated the whole game."

Twitter (@KingHenry_2): 'Time to get to work now! #RoadToPasadena'

*OL Grant Hill

"To make a long story short, I just think Alabama put the work in. They were focused and ready to go, and it showed. Not that Notre Dame wasn’t focused and ready, it’s just that Alabama prepared better."

*TE O.J. Howard

DE Chris Jones (Committed to Mississippi State)

"I kind of knew Alabama was going to win last night. It was an overrated game. Alabama is a powerhouse. I knew they were going to come out and do what they usually do. I feel like Notre Dame was overrated."

*ATH ArDarius Stewart

"I was surprised. I knew Alabama was going to come out with a win early on in the game because the offense put up points real fast, but I was just shocked that they came out and blew them out like they did. They worked hard to get where they were. They didn’t want to come home without the ring, and they didn’t. They got No. 15 like they wanted."

*RB Altee Tenpenny

"It was a one-sided game really. Alabama went in there and did what they had to do. Both of the backs went in there and displayed what they had, and they showed they were a dominant team."

DE Tim Williams

"It was the SEC dominating Notre Dame."

2014 prospects

DE Da’Shawn Hand

"That was crazy. I did not expect the game to be like that. I thought it was going to be nitty gritty, last-minute field goal type of game, but I guess Notre Dame just wasn’t ready for Alabama and what they had coming.

"It was a good game, though, for Alabama. They didn’t let up at all. Towards the end, even though they had a breakdown with the center and the quarterback, they got over it, so you can tell about the character of the team and the maturity -- how they face adversity."

CB Marlon Humphrey

"Bama showed dominance and why they’re always favorites in big-time games. Dee Milliner proved why he is one of the top corners last night, and the secondary as a whole really stepped up. The offense, of course, did their thing."

*RB Bo Scarbrough

"I didn’t know it was going to be like that. It was kind of surprising to me. After the first drive, I kind of knew Alabama had put it away already, but after seeing 21-0, I knew that Notre Dame didn’t have a chance.

"T.J. Yeldon showed up. He showed people what he can do, and Amari Cooper -- being another true freshman -- he went out there and did the same thing. They came out there and took care of business like a championship team does."
