With his junior football season behind him, D.K. Buford can start to think about recruiting.
Buford, whose team was recently eliminated from the playoffs, became much more familiar in recruiting circles after he reportedly ran a 4.22-second time in the 40-yard dash earlier this year. Sure, college coaches will want to check his speed in person. That's why they're beginning to reach out to the 5-foot-10, 190-pound prospect from Oxford (Miss.) Lafayette in hopes of getting him on campus.
Buford said he has received recent interest from Notre Dame, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU, Georgia and Missouri. The ESPN Watch List prospect has long held scholarship offers from nearby Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
Buford ran for 830 yards on 140 carries this season. He also caught 25 passes for just over 400 yards while completing three passes at quarterback.
College football recruiters won't just have to beat each other to land Buford. They'll also have to beat out baseball. Buford is a standout center fielder and could receive professional interest out of high school.
