Editor's note: This is a series introducing Alabama's 2013 recruiting class that will continue to run after signing day.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- ESPN 150 running back Altee Tenpenny (North Little Rock, Ark./North Little Rock) was one of the first players to commit to the University of Alabama in the 2013 class. Despite rumors and speculation that he would flip to in-state Arkansas, Tenpenny stayed true to his word and signed with the Crimson Tide. He was one of four running backs in the class. The Arkansas native visited Tuscaloosa last week during his spring break. He plans to enroll this summer.
Q: What made you sign with Alabama?
A: This question again -- the running back tradition there, good coaching staff, it’s just a good place.
Q: What’s life been like since your commitment?
A: It’s been less stressful. I don’t have to worry about phone calls. I don’t have to worry about trying to make a trip to this school or that school. It’s been better you could say.
Q: When did you first meet Coach Saban? What was that like?
A: It was going into my 11th grade year when I attended the camp. It was a little intimidating because you’re in 10th grade. Going in, you just wanted to talk. He wanted to talk about my future and how this decision could affect your life. That was the only intimidating thing. Other than that, it was just like meeting another person.
Q: What’s your favorite Alabama memory to this point?
A: I think my favorite was not this past football season, but it was the one with Trent [Richardson] and them, and I guessed the score for the Alabama-Auburn game correctly. It was 42-14.
Q: What’s your goal when you get to Alabama?
A: My goal is to just go in there and help the team as much as I can.
Q: Do you have a favorite play or memory from high school?
A: In the semifinals when we played [Fayetteville], and I scored the touchdown to catch us back up. It was a hook and ladder to the right, and we had been practicing it. We ran it, caught it, pitched it, scored.
