ESPN Watch List running back Nick Chubb (Cedartown, Ga./Cedartown) was once considered a Georgia lean, but South Carolina came into the picture and developed into a legitimate option. A third SEC program will also get one more opportunity to make an impression before Chubb announces his decision.

Previewing Auburn's right tackle battle

Brandon Marcello of AL.com says that Avery Young is still recovering from shoulder surgery, and so Patrick Miller finished spring as the first string right tackle for the Auburn Tigers. However, he says the battle will heat up in fall when Young is healthy and ready to compete.

Auburn's quarterback situation remains unsettled. Neither Kiehl Frazier nor Johnathan Wallace seized the opportunity to claim the top spot and lead the Tigers' offense during spring practice.

Auburn now has three incoming quarterback recruits ready to compete in the fall. Each will have a legitimate opportunity to earn the top spot. Auburn will simply adjust its playbook if one of the young signal callers capture the starting position.

Auburn lands ESPN 150 DE

ESPN.com recruiting expert Greg Ostendorf reported earlier this week that ESPN 150 defensive end Justin Thornton (Prichard, Ala./Vigor) would commit to a school on Sunday, and now a decision has been made: Thornton committed to Auburn on Sunday over the likes of LSU and Texas A&M.

Auburn solidifies left tackle position

Greg Robinson started every game but one at left tackle for the Auburn Tigers last season as a redshirt freshman. That sounds impressive, but the reason for that one missed start is worrying. Robinson didn't sit out due to injury or academic or other off-field issues, the coaches simply benched him for poor performance late in the year. Though he returned to the starting lineup for the Iron Bowl, his status coming into 2013 was shaky at best.

Malzahn talks Auburn quarterbacks

Last season, the Auburn Tigers took turns trying both Kiehl Frazier and Jonathan Wallace at quarterback (not to mention Clint Moseley, who left the program in January), and the results were eight passing touchdowns, 15 interceptions, and three wins. Frazier and Wallace both return this season, but new coach (and ex-Auburn offensive coordinator) Gus Malzahn has said this competition is going to last a while, and when all is said and done Frazier and Wallace might both be on the bench.

Auburn landed its biggest commitment of the current recruiting cycle when the nation's No. 5 inside linebacker, Tre' Williams (Mobile, Ala./St. Paul's Episcopal), gave his pledge to the Tigers. Auburn now has two linebacker commitments, but the coaching staff is still searching for a third.
