Robert Nkemdiche's collegiate position

By Brent Sobleski

Robert Nkemdiche (Loganville, Ga./Grayson) is widely known as the nation's No. 1 overall recruit. The lofty status also makes him the top player at his position by default. Nkemdiche is listed as a defensive end, but he may not rush the passer from the edge at the next level.

"(A) coach predicts that despite Nkemdiche being listed as a defensive end, he'll likely end up inside as a 3-technique," Bruce Feldman of CBSSports.com wrote.

The coach added, "Only way he ends up as a defensive end is in a 3-4."

The one program Nkemdiche is still considering that employs a base 3-4 defense is Alabama. Although, Nkemdiche is believed to be an Ole Miss lean. Nkemdiche will likely be given a shot to start at defensive end for the Rebels, but it may only take a year before he's lining up next to Isaac Gross along Ole Miss' defensive interior.

Nkemdiche scouting report

"While he belongs on the D-line, he even offers great versatility there as well. He could grow into five technique in a three-man front, play end or fit as a three-technique in a four-man front, and could potentially be a valuable swingman who can move around and create mismatches. Nkemdiche simply is an excellent prospect and while there is always room for improvement, he is a good football player who possesses some outstanding physical tools. He reminds us some at this stage of Da'Quan Bowers, the top player from the Class of 2008."
