Wes Lunt set to visit Louisville
By Brent Sobleski
So Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy blocked quarterback Wes Lunt from transferring to any school not only in the Big 12 but in the SEC and the Pac-12 as well. What can Lunt do now? ESPN football expert Joe Schad says that if Lunt has his heart set on attending Southern Mississippi, Tennessee, or Vanderbilt, he could file an appeal. The family is still considering the option. Otherwise, it looks like Lunt's favored available options would be Louisville or Illinois.
"...Lunt took an unofficial visit to Illinois at the end of last week and is sincerely considering transferring there," sources told Schad.
Illinois is not only the closest to home for Lunt, but it's also a solid fit as it pertains to offensive scheme.
"I will say this, Coach (Bill) Cubit's offense is definitely directed in Wes Lunt's wheelhouse," Lunt's high school coach, Derek Leonard, told Jeremy Werner of Orange&BlueNews.com. "He is an Illinois fan. It's close to home. I think all those factors go into it. I think Coach (Tim) Beckman's done a great job. Me and Coach Beckman have talked about a million times over the last few months. We've gotten to really know him, like him a lot. He's done a really good job."
