Ole Miss commit considers Alabama
By Brent Sobleski
When Alabama comes calling, recruits listen. Those recruits still entertain the Crimson Tide and its coaches even if they're committed to other programs. Case in point -- four-star safety C.J. Hampton (Meridian, Miss./Meridian) is verbally committed to Ole Miss. Alabama recently offered Hampton, and he's willing to listen to what Alabama has to offer.
"I am still committed to Ole Miss and that is my No. 1 school," Hampton told Chad Simmons of Scout.com. "I am going to look into my other options and I may visit Alabama in the summer, but Ole Miss is still my school.
"Alabama is a great school and it is a big-time football program there. I like how they go about their business, I like how the defensive backs play there, and it is a school I may take a look at."
Hampton left the door open for Alabama. A visit to Tuscaloosa could certainly change his mind. He'll remain an Ole Miss commit until the possibility arises.
"I have a great bond with Coach [Hugh] Freeze and we talk almost everyday. I love the program and with me being the first commitment of this class, I feel I am the leader. I will visit some other schools, but I am strong to Ole Miss."
Hampton also has offers from Auburn, Mississippi State, Stanford and Tennessee.
