Speedster leaves Florida State
By Brent Sobleski
Freshman Marvin Bracy wasn't expected to have a major role at wide receiver for Florida State this year, but he was expected to contribute on both offense and special teams. He will do neither as he decided to leave the program.
"Freshman two-sport athlete Marvin Bracy has left the Florida State program and is expected to sign a professional track contract," the Tallahassee Democrat reported.
Florida State is set at wide receiver with Rashad Greene, Kenny Shaw, Greg Dent and Kelvin Benjamin -- four of its top five targets last season -- returning this year. Bracy's speed was an element Florida State would have liked to work into the offense but won't get the chance.
Bracy also could have served as a kick returner this season. LaMarcus Joyner and Karlos Williams also return in that role. If Florida State wants more speed on special teams, cornerback Ronald Darby can be employed as the team's primary deep returner.
