Temple QB switching positions?
By Vince Verhei
Chris Coyer is still listed as a quarterback on the Temple Owls' depth chart, but he's listed as a backup quarterback behind Connor Reilly. Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Coyer has been practicing at tight end and H-back, catching two touchdowns in one practice. Will Coyer find himself on the receiving end of passes permanently this season?
"I just felt like it was the best move for the team," Coyer said after practice. "And it was the best way for me to help the team at this point. I think it adds maybe a little bit of versatility to our offense. We can do some different things in the game with me at different positions."
"The thing about Chris is, he understands he's going to do whatever we need," said head coach Matt Rhule, who insists that Coyer is still a quarterback. "He's a team guy and Temple first. He just kind of said, 'I can get open. I can catch this. I can catch that.' "
