K-State QB race still too close to call
By Vince Verhei
Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is for the Kansas State Wildcats' starting quarterback job. In this corner: Daniel Sams, a dynamic runner with experience in the Kansas State program. And in this corner: Jake Waters, a quick study in the Wildcats offense after transferring from Iowa Western Community College. The winner? That's still a long way from being decided.
"I've seen been a lot of good things in both, things that can allow us to find our own identity and even possibly be better than last year," wide receiver Tyler Lockett tells Blair Kerkhoff of The Kansas City Star.
"Nobody knows who's going to be the starter"
"It's very competitive," K-State coach Bill Snyder said. "What I've appreciated about them is they've helped each other."
