James Madison is still the league's top option according to Thibodeaux. Alabama State and Jacksonville have reportedly inquired about possible membership. Sam Houston State and Lamar also remain possibilities.
UPDATE: Sun Belt conference commissioner Karl Benson is trying to keep all of his options open including the the possibility of still adding James Madison.
A previous report (see: below) stated James Madison wasn't interested in a move at this time, which led to Liberty being the logical choice for the conference. James Madison could still be in play even if its not interested at the moment.
The domino effect created by college football realignment continues to affect the Sun Belt Conference. The league already announced the additions of Appalachian State, Idaho, Georgia Southern and New Mexico State in efforts to build stability. Western Kentucky is set to leave for Conference USA in 2014.
A fifth team will be added by the conference as it considers a couple options.
