ESPN WL TE Tyler Luatua's Top 5

Alabama and USC have stood out for some time as the favorites for ESPN Watch List tight end Tyler Luatua (La Miranda, Calif./La Miranda). Three programs are angling to overtake Luatua's top two.

“I’m also looking at Michigan, Ohio State and Florida, that’s my top five," Luatua told Greg Biggins of Scout.com.

It will be difficult for any of the programs recruiting Luatua to overtake either Alabama or USC.

“Alabama is there because of my brother (Isaac) and he loves it there," Luatua said. "He’s encouraging me to go wherever I want but he loves the coaches out there, likes coach Saban and told me I would love it out there as well.

“I like USC because it’s close to home and they have great tradition. They’re a powerhouse program and I’ve always liked them. They’re recruiting me hard and I like the coaches. They’re going through a little struggle right now but you know they’ll be back soon."

Luatua's one stipulation is how he will be used in his preferred team's offense:

Erik McKinney
Luatua's top concern
"I’m still open to everyone,” Luatua said. “I’m just trying to see which school uses their tight ends a lot, and I think there are a lot of them out there."
