ESPN WL DT still favors Wisconsin

By Brent Sobleski

UPDATE: ESPN Watch List defensive tackle Craig Evans (Sun Prairie, Wisc./Sun Prairie) decommitted from Wisconsin after Bret Bielema left the Badgers to coach in the SEC. Wisconsin is still firmly in the picture for Evans despite his decommitment.

"I just think I got caught up in the moment and it was an impulse decision," Evans told John Veldhuis of BadgerBlitz.com. "Right now Wisconsin is still my No. 1 pick. There isn't a school that's overcome them yet. I'm just taking my time this time."

Wisconsin and Arkansas are at the top of Evans' list of schools, but he also plans on taking visits to Notre Dame, Michigan State, and Georgia.

Arkansas and Wisconsin will likely be the two team's out in front during Craig Evans' recruitment. Evans was verbally committed to Wisconsin when Bret Bielema's staff was still in Madison. He then decommitted from the program once Bieleman left for the SEC. Bielema is now at Arkansas, and the Razorbacks have heavy interest in the ESPN Watch List defensive tackle.

"They're obviously in the SEC and things like that, but really I just like Coach (Charlie) Partridge and Coach Bielema, obviously," Evans told Danny West of HawgSports.com. "They're really the biggest things I like about Arkansas at this moment."

Despite the coaching change at Wisconsin, the home state Badgers are still one of Evans' top teams.

"Wisconsin is still one of my favorites, most definitely," Evans said.

The relationship new Wisconsin head coach Gary Andersen can potentially build and the results of the Badger's season under his direction will likely have a great influence on Evans' eventual decision. If the Badgers continue their winning ways under Andersen, Evans may lean towards staying close to home.
