Three-star CB is a CU lean
By Brent Sobleski
Mike MacIntyre and his staff at Colorado are trying to finish strong and complete the recruiting class handed to them upon MacIntyre's hire. Only five of the team's 17 verbal commitments gave their pledge to the current coaching staff. The other 12 were holdovers. But the team is on the verge of adding a three-star cornerback to its class. Chidobe Awuzie (San Jose, Calif./Oak Grove) is considering Colorado, San Jose State and Washington State.
“I’m leaning to Colorado,” Awuzie told Greg Biggins of Scout.com. “I’m already real comfortable with Coach Mac (Mike MacIntyre) and I know what a great coach he is. I’ve seen it firsthand when he was at San Jose State."
The hometown Spartans will likely prove to be Colorado's top competition.
"That’s the local school and I’m really close with the coaching staff there," Awuzie said. "I feel a strong connection there and they’re really recruiting me hard, making me a priority."
