The legend of Johnny "Football" almost never came to be. Jameill Showers was believed to be the favorite to start at quarterback for Texas A&M entering fall camp. Manziel, a redshirt freshman, was eventually named the starter, and the rest is history. Showers, meanwhile, decided its time to find another opportunity in order to be a starting quarterback.
