Jeremi Hall (East Point, Ga./Tri-Cities) was contacted by Georgia Tech officials shortly after he returned from an official visit to South Florida. That's not surprising -- Hall had committed to the Yellow Jackets, and schools often want to talk to commits after they visit other programs. In this case, though, Georgia Tech didn't have questions for Hall, they had a message: Despite his commitment, they were pulling their scholarship offer and would be looking elsewhere. What went wrong?
"Jeremi has been committed to them since May, so with two weeks left, he has to try to choose again," Hall's high school coach Kenneth Miller tells Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "But that is OK. I think it’s a blessing in disguise for the kid.
"The crazy part, though, is that some coaches think they have all the power … to pull a kid’s offer just because he visits another school. I mean, did you really, really want that kid from the (start)? Is this rule the same for all of your commits? Or just the ones who you really, really didn’t want?
