For a long time, the LSU Tigers were considered strong favorites to land wide receiver Speedy Noil (New Orleans, La./Edna Karr). Now, though, it appears that Noil has scratched LSU from his list, or at least moved them back several spots. Blair Angulo of WeAreSC on ESPN.com has more on Noil's potential suitors, and says the wideout could find his way to the City of Angels:

ESPN 150 WR names top five

Some pretty simple math says there's a 60 percent chance that Saeed Blacknall (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) will end up playing in the Deep South. The ESPN 150 wide receiver has named his top five teams, and three of them play below the Mason-Dixon Line.

Offensive tackle Robert Castaneda (Round Rock, Texas/Round Rock) committed to the Kansas State Wildcats in March, but he admits now that was a hasty decision, caused by fear that he would get no other offers. His commitment served only to get his name out there, and Castaneda is now drawing interest from other schools in the Big 12.

The Oklahoma Sooners have long drawn the bulk of their talent from the state of Texas, and like most other big-time programs, they have landed a bevy of recruits from California and Florida as well. Is that enough, though? Brandon Chatmon of SoonerNation on ESPN.com says that Oklahoma needs to cast a wider net in recruiting, and he recommends starting in the heart of SEC country:

Ohio State's top cornerback target

Brad Bournival of BuckeyeNation on ESPN.com has put together a list of the top five cornerback targets for the Ohio State Buckeyes this recruiting season. Not surprisingly, the list is topped by the top prospects in the nation, like Jabrill Peppers (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) and Jalen Tabor (Washington D.C./Friendship Academy), but Bournival admits that the Buckeyes are longshots to add those stars. They have a better chance, though, with a Texas prospect who intends to visit Columbus shortly:

Linebacker Jared Wangler (Warren, Mich./De La Salle) would not be the first player to back out of a commitment when an SEC school came knocking on his door. He tells ESPN.com recruiting expert Jared Shanker, however, that an offer from the LSU Tigers has had no effect on his commitment to the Penn State Nittany Lions.

D'Andre Walker (Fairburn, Ga./Langston Hughes) is a 2015 defensive end prospect, so he has a long way to go in the recruiting process. Junior college transfer Tyler Ferguson enters fall camp with a slight lead to start at quarterback for Penn State. Christian Hackenberg, the nation's No. 1 QB recruit in this year's class, will enter the competition for the first time this summer. But a third option shouldn't be overlooked.

Matt McGloin was once a walk-on to Penn State's football program. Another could eventually lead the program as its next starting quarterback.

Bench's biggest obstacle to start at USF

Quarterback Steven Bench made his transfer decision. He will attend USF in the fall. Bench will be able to play for the Bulls in the fall due to the NCAA sanctions previously placed on Penn State. And Bench hopes to start immediately at USF.

Bench may be able to overcome his biggest obstacle to potentially start quicker than expected.

Alabama is the most talented team from top to bottom in college football. The Crimson Tide continues to recruit at an elite level. ESPN.com's Brett McMurphy reported Tuesday Ford Field in Detroit wanted to create a new bowl game with a possible tie-in to the Big Ten Conference. It was originally believed the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl would be eliminated as a result. The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl may simply change venues and retain its status among the bowl hierarchy.
