Making the case for Hopkins: He had a record-setting season, secured his place as one of the ACC’s best, and he has been one of Florida State’s most consistent players. Hopkins was a Lou Groza Award finalist for the past two seasons. He set NCAA career records for points by kicking (466) and field goals (88). His scoring total ranks third among all players in the NCAA’s FBS, trailing only Wisconsin’s Montee Ball (500) and Travis Prentice of Miami (Ohio) (468). Hopkins also set an ACC record with 140 points in 2012, breaking the previous mark of 132 points set by Virginia Tech running back Ryan Williams during the 2009 season. Hopkins also made 5 of 6 field goal attempts this season from 50 or more yards.
